PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mammography apparatus capable of photographing a breast in a manner comfortable to a subject without depending on a physical constitution of the subject.SOLUTION: A mammography apparatus according to an embodiment, includes: an X-ray radiation unit an arm an X-ray detector and a control system. The X-ray radiation unit radiates an X-ray toward a breast of a subject. The arm fixes the X-ray radiation unit. The X-ray detector faces the X-ray radiation unit to be able to detect the X-ray transmitted through the breast, and is attached to the arm side by an attaching/detaching mechanism to be attachable/detachable and replaceable. The control system controls the X-ray radiation unit, the arm, and the X-ray detector.
