The present invention relates to a bite indicator or detector or alarm used when fishing with a fishing rod which bite alarm indicates movement of a fishing line. The bite alarm comprises a hanger or a weight and a passive line-controller defining a horizontal position of the fishing line i.e. restricting movement of the line in a horizontal direction. The hanger is attached to the fishing line and pulls the fishing line downwards.
