An apparatus and method of cooling products includes a conveyor for transporting the products, through a refrigeration medium for cooling the products, agitation means disposed proximate to the conveyor for selective, intermittent contact with the conveyor to displace the conveyor from a plane of travel, thereby displacing the products on the conveyor during freezing to prevent the products from adhering to the conveyor or other of the products during freezing, at least one of the agitation means and the conveyor constructed and arranged to be positioned away from each other for the conveyor to move uninterrupted along the plane of travel.L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif de refroidissement de produits. Ledit dispositif comporte un convoyeur destiné à transporter des produits au travers d'un milieu de refroidissement destiné à refroidir les produits, et un agitateur disposé à proximité du convoyeur pour le contact intermittent sélectif, de manière à déplacer le convoyeur à partir d'un plan de déplacement afin de déplacer les produits présents sur le convoyeur lors de la congélation pour éviter que les produits n'adhèrent au convoyeur ou à d'autres produits lors de la congélation. L'agitateur et/ou le convoyeur sont conçus et disposés de manière à être situés à distance l'un de l'autre afin que le convoyeur puisse se déplacer de façon ininterrompue le long du plan de déplacement.
