To provide an illumination device for plant cultivation and having an insect repellent effect against moths while controlling inhibition of blooming of short-day plants such as chrysanthemum.
SOLUTION: The illumination device for plant cultivation includes: a light emitting part a driving part connected to the light emitting part for feeding prescribed pulse-like electric POWER and a POWER supply part for distributing the electric POWER to the driving part. The light emitting part includes a plurality of LED chips. The light outgoing from the light emitting part has a light-emitting peak wavelength in a zone from green to yellow. The driving part blinks the LED chips in a blinking pattern with a prescribed light period width and a dark period width. The blinking is characterized by the duty=light period width/(light period width+dark period width) which is 9-50%, and the insect repellent effect almost without inhibiting blooming of short-day plants.
