The catheter device comprises a motor located at the proximal end of thecatheter device,and a drive shaft which extends from the proximal end area of the catheterdevice to thedistal end area and which drives a rotary element located at the distal end ofthe catheterdevice. The catheter device further comprises a tubular catheter shaft whichencloses thedrive shaft and which extends from the proximal end area to the distal endarea of thecatheter device. The drive shaft is connected to the motor at the proximal endof thecatheter device by means of a coupling. The coupling is a magnetic couplingwith aproximal magnet unit and a distal magnet unit. The proximal magnet unit isconnected tothe motor, and the distal magnet unit is connected to the drive shaft. Thedistal magnetunit is mounted in a coupling housing in a leaktight manner. The proximal endof thecatheter shaft is connected to the coupling housing in a leaktight manner.
