PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air separator which removes or separates air from the blood before the blood is returned into a patient.SOLUTION: An air separator 100 for an extracorporeal blood circuit comprises an air separation chamber 1 including at least one inflow passage 9 and at least one outflow passage 25, to thereby separate out air from a fluid flowing through the air separator. The air separation chamber comprises: a first chamber 3 having at least one first chamber cross-section QK1 and into which the inflow passage opens； at least one second chamber 5 having one second chamber cross-section QK2 and from which the outflow passage protrudes； and a connection opening 7 between the first chamber and the second chamber through which the fluid may flow from the first chamber into the second chamber.
