PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscopic vessel sealing instrument which reduces the overall amount of mechanical force necessary to close the jaw members and to clamp tissue therebetween.SOLUTION: An endoscopic forceps 10 for vessel sealing includes: a housing 20 a shaft 12 and an end effector assembly operatively supported on the distal end of the shaft 12. The end effector assembly includes the followings: a pair of jaw members 110 an outside sleeve translatably disposed about the shaft 12 and a link mechanism. The endoscopic forceps includes a movable handle 40 operatively associated with the housing 20.
