For an image imaged by the imaging unit, the control unit defines blocks of a prescribed number of pixels computes, for each block, the block average brightness and block standard deviation on the basis of output from the pixels to calculate a brightness adjustment coefficient computes, for the total image, the total average brightness and total standard deviation on the basis of the output from the pixels to calculate, for each pixel of the total image, an adjusted brightness value for the one pixel on the basis of the brightness adjustment coefficient of the block to which the pixel belongs, the total average brightness and the total standard deviation adjusts the brightness of each pixel on the basis of the adjusted brightness value and performs averaging processing on the image.
