PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing an aqueous gel body, which produces a braid-shaped or belt-shaped aqueous gel body in excellent productivity and a method for producing an aqueous gel body, which produces a braid-shaped or belt-shaped aqueous gel body in excellent productivity. SOLUTION: The apparatus for producing an aqueous gel body has a gel-forming aqueous solution supply part for continuously introducing a gel-forming aqueous solution to a coagulation solution for coagulating the gel-forming aqueous solution and forming an aqueous gel, a coagulation solution tank for holding the coagulation solution and an aqueous gel body taking out means for continuously taking out a continuous aqueous gel body formed in the coagulation solution tank to the outside of the coagulation solution tank.
