A method for determining a local property in a non-homogeneous material from a surface of said material is disclosed. The method comprises: receiving (S3) a returning sound wave from said material, converting (S4) the returning sound wave into an electrical signal, calculating (S5) the phase of the electrical signal, calculating (S6) a time derivative of the phase of the returning sound wave, determining (S7) at least one property of the material based on the time derivative of the phase. A system for determining a local property in a non homogeneous material from a surface of said material is also disclosed.Linvention concerne un procédé de détermination dune propriété locale dans un matériau non homogène à partir dune surface dudit matériau. Le procédé comprend: la réception (S3) dune onde sonore de retour provenant dudit matériau, la conversion (S4) de londe sonore de retour en un signal électrique, le calcul (S5) de la phase du signal électrique, le calcul (S6) dune dérivée temporelle de la phase de londe sonore de retour, la détermination (S7) dau moins une propriété du matériau sur la base de la dérivée temporelle de la phase. Linvention concerne également un système de détermination dune propriété locale dans un matériau non homogène à partir dune surface dudit matériau.
