A pharmaceutical composition comprising: a. prednisolone metasulfobenzoate (PMSB) or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts, preferably sodium prednisolone metasulfobenzoate, ib. 5-ASA (5-aminosalicylic acid), its derivatives or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts. 2. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 in the form of a powder, granules or suspension, preferably for use in the form of a tablet, enema, foam, oral dosage form, quick-release form, delayed-release form or delayed-release form. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 or 2, suitable for rectal administration. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1, comprising a combination of prednisone metasulfobenzoate (PMSB) and 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), their derivatives or their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, in the form of a solid pharmaceutical composition, preferably for reconstitution to produce an enema. The pharmaceutical composition according to any one of claims 1 and 2, substantially free of buffer. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1, further comprising a viscosity enhancer, preferably in an amount of from about 0.05 to about 2.5 wt.%, More preferably in an amount of from about 1 to about 1.75 wt.%.
