The present document describes a method of reducing a microbial presence on at least one part of a subject by topically applying to the subject's part an antimicrobial formulation comprising: a) at least one antimicrobial isolated or synthetic phenolic compound of natural origin, selected from the group consisting of thymol and carvacrol； b) at least one surfactant sufficient to form a solution or dispersion of said phenolic compound in an aqueous carrier； c) a solvent for dissolving said phenolic compound； and d) a sufficient aqueous carrier quantity to make 100% (w/w).La présente invention concerne un procédé de réduction de la présence microbienne sur au moins une partie d'un sujet par application topique sur la partie d'un sujet d'une préparation antimicrobienne comprenant : a) au moins un composé phénolique antimicrobien isolé ou synthétique d'origine naturelle, choisi dans le groupe constitué de thymol et de carvacrol ； b) au moins un tensioactif suffisant pour former une solution ou une dispersion dudit composé phénolique dans un porteur aqueux ； c) un solvant permettant de dissoudre ledit composé phénolique ； et d) une quantité suffisante de porteur aqueux pour faire 100 % (p/p).
