At least one small plate (20,120,240,242,340,342,440,442) is used for the fixation of the scapholunate interval between scaphoid and lunate using fixed angle fasteners (30) to allow complete healing and remodelling of the scapholunate ligament. The system can include two small plates (240,242,340,342,440,442) for the scaphoid and lunate joined by a central element (244,344,444). The system can include two bone anchors (560,562,640,642) for the lunate and scaphoid, also joined by a central element (564,664). The central element is flexible, and/or the plates or anchors are movably joined to the central element. The central element can act like an artificial ligament and permits more normal motion of the wrist bones while maintaining the scapholunate interval at its correct anatomical dimension.
