Use of seed treatment active substance comprising carbamate insecticides, as safeners for avoiding or reducing phytotoxic effects of herbicides on useful plants, preferably crop plants, is claimed. Independent claims are also included for: (1) crop plants protective agent comprising the above seed treatment active substance optionally in the form of a seed dressing formulation in combination with herbicides, and optionally formulation auxiliaries (2) protecting crop- or useful plants from phytotoxic effects of herbicides, which cause damage to plants, comprising applying the above seed treatment active substance as safeners, on the seeds of the useful plants and (3) selectively controlling the weeds in useful plants, preferably crop plants, comprising applying at least one compound of the above seed treatment active substance optionally in the form of seed dressing formulation, with at least one herbicide, on seeds, plant parts, agricultural land or water, before, after or simultaneously during the sowing of the seeds of the crop plants. ACTIVITY : Herbicide Insecticide. The ability of the seed treatment active substance to improve phytotoxicity was tested by taking rice seeds treated with active substance (3.75 g/kg of seed), treating with Ronstar 380 SC(RTM: Oxadiazon) and culturing and comparing the efficiency with the non-treated seeds. The result showed that number of accumulated crops/m 2>(after 15 days) from Larvin 375 SC(RTM: Thiodicarb) treated seeds was 48.5 and the number of accumulated crops/m 2>(after 15 days) from seed not treated with the Larvin 375 SC(RTM: Thiodicarb) was 20.7. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given.
