The protector (80) has an arm (84) that is supported in a freely pivotable manner by an axle pin (89) positioned on the base end side of the wide diameter part (30) of the intradermal needle (10), and a lid (86) supported by the arm (84). With the axle of pivoting of the protector (80) positioned near the needle hub (16), the lid (86) may be housed compactly near the needle hub (16) when the protector (80) is in the open position.
