PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately move an imaging object region up and down without changing the angle of a jaw and the body attitude of a patient, and to prevent an increase in the scale of an apparatus.SOLUTION: An X-ray imaging apparatus includes: a turning arm 5 having an X-ray irradiation part 52 and an X-ray detection part 53 arranged while facing each other with respect to the head of a subject O a holding frame 4 for holding the turning arm 5 an elevating/lowering body 3 for supporting the holding frame 4 and a column 2 for freely vertically movably supporting the elevating/lowering body 3. A patient frame 6 is attached to the elevating/lowering body 3, a subject holding device 7 for fixing the head of the subject is attached to the distal end of the patient frame 6 freely vertically movably independent of the patient frame 6.
