The present invention provides a system for elevating a storage container of a kimchi refrigerator and a control method thereof. The system for elevating a storage container of a kimchi refrigerator comprises: a main body which is opened and closed by a door joined to an upper side and has a storage chamber for accommodating a storage container and a machine chamber for cooling the storage chamber a container support plate which is arranged in the storage chamber and supports the inserted storage container a first elevation unit which is arranged under the container support plate in the storage chamber and raises up and places down the container support plate a second elevation unit which is arranged on both side walls of the storage chamber and raises up and places down the container support plate a weight measurement unit which is arranged on the container support plate and measures, in real time, weight of the storage container placed on the container support plate when the door is opened sensing units which are arranged on both side walls of an upper end portion of the storage chamber and senses user&primes hands and a control unit which receives transmission of measured weight of the storage container from the weight measurement unit when receiving a user hand sensing signal from the sensing unit, compares the measured weight to a predetermined reference value, and controls driving of at least one of the first elevation unit and the second elevation unit in accordance with a comparison result. According to the present invention, the storage container located in a lower side of the storage chamber can be withdrawn in an easy manner by elevating the container support plate supporting the storage container by a signal of sensing user&primes hands inserted in the storage chamber. As hybrid-type operation is performed in accordance with weight of the storage chamber, unnecessary consumption of electric energy is prevented, and maintenance costs can be reduced.COPYRI
