PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alignment pin arrangement to enhance engagement between cartridge and anvil assemblies.SOLUTION: An end effector is disposed adjacently to an elongated portion extending distally from a handle portion, and includes a first jaw member 250 and a second jaw member 260, the first and second jaw members configured to clamp tissue therebetween. A pin is disposed in mechanical cooperation with the first jaw member and includes an engaging section 280. The pin can move between a first position and a second position.
