A bioresorbable iron-based alloy stent, comprising an iron-based alloy base and a degradable polyester in contact with the surface of the base, said degradable polyester having a weight average molecular weight between 20,000 and 1,000,000 and a polydispersity index between 1.2 and 30. The degradable polyester and the iron-based alloy base are compatible, such that the iron-based alloy corrodes rapidly and controllably within a predetermined period of time. Following implantation into the human body, the degradable stent serves as a mechanical support early on, gradually degrading and being metabolized and absorbed by the body the process of degradation produces little or no solid product from iron corrosion, such that ultimately, the configuration of the lumen with implanted stent, as well as the systolic and diastolic functions, return to their natural states.
