The present invention relates to a use of an Origanum vulgareextract for manufacturing compositions for inhibiting lipid accumulation and inflammation by applying the Origanum vulgareextract to a subject needed to inhibit lipid accumulation and inflammation. The Origanum vulgareextract is obtained by extracting an Origanum vulgarematerial with 95%(v/v) ethanol. The Origanum vulgareextract has low cell toxicity and can effectively inhibit lipid accumulation. Accordingly, the Origanum vulgareextract can be used for manufacturing compositions for losing weight.本發明關於一種牛至( Origanum vulgare)萃取物於製備抑制脂質堆積與抗發炎組成物之用途，係以一牛至萃取物施予一所需個體以抑制脂質堆積與降低發炎反應，其中牛至萃取物為以體積百分比95%之乙醇溶液萃取一牛至材料所獲得。本發明牛至萃取物具有低細胞毒性且可有效降低脂質堆積，可應用於製備減重之組合物。
