The sprinkler control system includes a sensor configured to obtain data relating to ambient air temperature, a microcontroller which is in communication with the sensor and one or more outputs associated with pumping equipment controllable by the microcontroller. A power source for powering operation of the microcontroller, sensor and outputs is also provided. The microcontroller is configured to retrieve data relating to ambient air temperature from the sensor and determine whether the ambient air temperature has exceeded a predetermined threshold, and in response to an ambient air temperature exceeding the predetermined threshold, provides an output signal to the outputs to operate the pumping equipment associated with the outputs so as to operate one or more sprinklers.
