PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor and a method which process an ultrasonic image so that an observer can detect a vulnerable plaque easily.SOLUTION: The image processor detects the pulsation of a subject, estimates a period without influence by the pulsation of an image frame group and its cycle, and produces a reference high-frequency component filtered image where a high-frequency component is filtered out based on an image in one period of an estimated period. Moreover, a comparative high-frequency component filtered image where the high-frequency component is filtered out based on an image in other period which is different from the one period of the estimated period is produced. Additionally, difference between the reference high-frequency component filtered image and the comparative high-frequency component filtered out image is calculated, to produce a difference image.
