The invention provides structurally constrained viral peptides for use astherapeutic and vaccination agents, and forthe production of antibodies for use in a number of applications including astherapeutic agents. The invention further providesmethods and kits for use of the structurally constrained peptides andantibodies of the instant invention. The invention is based, atleast in part, on the result provided herein demonstrating that viralhydrocarbon stapled helical peptides display excellentproteolytic, acid, and thermal stability, restore the native helical structureof the peptide, are highly effective in interfering with the viralfusogenic process, and possess superior pharmacokinetic properties compared tothe corresponding unmodified peptides.
