Disclosed herein is a 2,4-diaminoquinazoline compound of formula (III), wherein Q is -CH2-, R1 is selected from the group consisting of aryl, substituted aryl, heteroaryl and substituted heteroaryl with the proviso that the compound is not 5-[1-(3,4-dichlorobenzyl)-piperidin-4-ylmethoxy]-quinazoline-2,4-diamine, processes for its preparation, compositions comprising said compounds, and uses thereof. Said compounds are useful for treating spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
