PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inflammatory bowel disease inhibitor safe, free from the risk of side effects, and further, capable of being easily used, and to provide food and drink having an inflammatory bowel disease inhibitory effect.SOLUTION: An inflammatory bowel disease inhibitor includes galacturonic acid or a galacturonic acid source as an active ingredient. Food and drink having an inflammatory bowel disease inhibitory effect are further provided. As the galacturonic acid source, preferably, fruit vinegar, vegetable vinegar, fruit wine, fruit juice or vegetable juice, or the concentrates or dilutions thereof is used.
