PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin external preparation having a safe and highly active melanogenesis inhibition effect.SOLUTION: The skin external preparation includes a group of compounds having a germacrone-like skeleton as an active ingredient and a specific skin whitening agent, a specific plant or an extract thereof. These compounds can be obtained by purifying a plant such as Curcuma longa L. and Curcuma zedoaria Roscoe.
