The present invention relates to a device for measuring a body composition which measures a body composition by being in contact with a body, and a control method thereof. According to the present invention, the device for measuring a body composition comprises: a body unit having one surface and the other surface facing the one surface； a first electrode unit provided on one surface of the body unit and including first sub electrodes having first polarity； a second electrode unit provided on the other surface of the body unit and including second sub electrodes having second polarity opposite to the first polarity； a variable resistor unit provided on the body unit and formed to change a resistance value； and a control unit obtaining first body impedance corresponding to a user body in response to the user body which is in contact to the first and second electrode units and controlling the variable resistor unit to have the resistance value corresponding to the first body impedance.본 발명은 신체에 접촉하여 체성분을 측정하는 체성분 측정장치 및 이의제어 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 체성분 측정장치는, 일면 및 상기 일면과 마주보는 타면을 구비하는 바디부, 상기 일면에 구비되며, 제1 극성을 갖는 제1 서브 전극들을 포함하는 제1 전극부, 상기 타면에 구비되며, 상기 제1 극성과 반대되는 제2 극성을 갖는 제2 서브 전극들을 포함하는 제2 전극부, 상기 바디부에 구비되며, 저항 값의 변경이 가능하도록 이루어지는 가변 저항부 및 상기 제1 및 제2 전극부에 사용자 신체가 접촉되는 것에 응답하여, 상기 사용자 신체에 대응되는 제1 신체 임피던스 획득하고, 상기 제1 신체 임피던스에 대응되는 저항값을 갖도록 상기 가변 저항부를 제어하는 제어부를 포함한다.
