The invention concerns an adjustable bed 10 comprising a frame having at least two sections 20a, 20b including an upper body section 20a on which an adjustable back rest 12 is mounted and a separate lower body section 20b. The adjustable back rest 12 is pivotally mounted for angular adjustment with respect to the frame. The upper and lower body sections 20a, 20b are capable of being joined together to provide a full length adjustable bed. The bed preferably also has a fixed support section 14a adjacent the backrest support section 12, and preferably a further fixed section 14b adjacent the lower body section 16. The lower body section 20b may comprise an adjustable upper leg/thigh 16 support and a lower leg/calf support 18. The invention provides an adjustable bed that can be stored and transported in two parts, allowing for ease of storage, display, delivery and installation.
