PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occluder suitable for closing a ventricular septal defect (VSD).SOLUTION: The occluder includes an expandable fixation unit 4 for fixing the occluder over a passage, and can be transferred in the passage from a compact appearance to an expanded appearance. The occluder has a distal axial part 2 and a proximal axial part 3, in which the fixation unit can be pivotally held. The fixation unit comprises a distal fixation arm 40 and a proximal fixation arm 40, the distal fixation arm is pivotally held in the distal axial part and the proximal fixation arm is pivotally held in the proximal axial part. The distal fixation arm and the proximal fixation arm have free ends, which are interconnected by means of connecting members 43 that can be moved relative to the fixation arms.
