The apparatus typically comprises a (Ball Thrower part) being a resiliently flexible stem (Alternatively it may be telescopic or pivoting to increase flicking motion) having a ball grip cup at a distal end thereof and a detachable or fixed (Drink Bottle part) reservoir at a proximal end thereof. A hose fluidly connects the water reservoir to the ball grip cup. As such, the apparatus can be used for ball throwing functionality by holding the apparatus at the handle, inserting the ball within the ball grip cup and flicking the apparatus forwards. The ball grip cup may alternatively be used to pick the ball from the ground. However, when the pet is thirsty (which may be typical after several rounds of ball chasing), the apparatus may be attached to the second part of the device (being a water reservoir or drink bottle) and held downwards from the handle such that the ball grip cup at a distal end thereof is accessible by the pet. Water flows from the reservoir towards the entrance of the hose, down along the hose along the flexible stem and pools within the ball grip cup allowing for lapping thereof by the pet. The reservoir may comprise flexible walls so as to be squeezable so as to squirt liquid from the hose into the cup. The hose entrance into the cup may locate upwardly when the stem is held downwardly such that water can fall there from into the cup and such that the entrance is free from liquid pooled therein so as to not inadvertently suck water from the cup when compression of the reservoir is released. Alternatively, the reservoir may be nonflexible and may comprise a push button pump or a push button valve allowing water to be pumped or to fall by gravity to the cup.
