In this disposable diaper (10), a rear waist region (14) comprises: a band-shaped region (skin-contacting region) (23) that is located on the skin-opposing surface side, and that extends along the lateral direction (X)； and a pocket-forming section (20) including a pocket (30) that is located on the non-skin-opposing surface side, and that opposes the band-shaped region (23) in the front-to-rear direction in a central section in the lateral direction (X). The pocket-forming section (20) includes: side fixing sections (45) that are fixed to the band-shaped region (23)； a pocket inside region (42) that extends upward from a section connected to the band-shaped region (23) between both side fixing sections (45)； and a pocket outside region (43) that opposes the pocket inside region (42) in the front-to-rear direction via a bending section (33) extending along the lateral direction (X), and that extends toward the crotch region (15) side. The band-shaped region (23) can elastically expand/contract in the lateral direction (X), and between both side fixing sections (45), the contraction rate of the band-shaped region (23) is greater than the contraction rate of the pocket outside region (43).
