A bioimpedance method for determining body fluid volumes consists in measuring the physical dimensions of a body L and the electrical impedance of different parts of the body. An impedance Zшпр is measured as a current passes between the neck and the right arm, an impedance Ζшпн is measured as a current passes between the neck and the right leg, and an impedance ΖДТ of a diagonal component of the body is measured as a current passes between the right arm and the left leg. The impedance ΖΠΡ of the right and left arms is found, as is the overall impedance of the body at a low frequency ΖΤΗ. The impedance of the parts of the body is measured at a high frequency, the capacitive component of said impedance is determined, and the overall capacitive component of the impedance of the body ZTC is found. The normal and measured value of the volume of extracellular and intracellular fluid is determined. The claimed device comprises: four pairs of electrodes, each of which comprises a current electrode and a potential electrode and a probe signal generator. The potential outputs of commutators are connected to the inputs of a detector, the output of which is connected via an analog-to-digital converter to a signal input of a control and recording unit, the control outputs of which are connected to the control inputs of the commutators and of the probe signal generator. The electrode pairs are connected by a first and second electrical bus to the output-inputs of the commutators. A calibrating circuit is connected between the opposite polarity outputs of the probe signal generator, said calibrating circuit comprising, connected in series, a resistor and a controllable switch, the input of which is connected to a fourth output of the control and recording unit.
