Disclosed herein is process for producing a granulate comprising the steps of: i) suspending or/and at least partially dissolving lactose and optionally at least one cellulose derivative in at least one liquid and ii) atomizing the solution or suspension obtained in i) in an environment above room temperature onto cellulose derivative particles and optionally lactose particles during which the liquid is at least partially removed.
