A cam reel for use on a harvesting header. The reel comprises a plurality ofreel batsdisposed evenly around the reel shaft, each attached to radial arms extendingoutwardlyfrom the reel shaft by bat arms pivotally attached to the radial arms suchthat the batmember itself can pivot about a pivot axis around the end of the radial aims.The reelends of the radial arms define a circular bat path and the reel bats onceattached can bepivoted about the pivot axis, parallel to the reel axis, in a bat pivot pathto move bothinside and outside of the radius of the circular bat path. The reel can beattached tovarious header assemblies using interchangeable end kits. A header using thereel is alsodisclosed.
