An object of the present invention is to provide large-sized zinc oxide particles that show, when incorporated to a cosmetic product, excellent properties including transparency, infrared reflection, and the like without deteriorating the feel and also a cosmetic containing the same. The zinc oxide particles having an average particle diameter of 3 to 20 µm, an average friction coefficient of 3 or less, a total visible light transmittance of 85% or more, and a near-infrared reflectance of 80% or more.본 발명은 감촉을 악화시키지 않고, 화장품에 배합했을 경우의 투명성, 적외선 반사 등의 성능이 뛰어난 대입자의 산화아연 입자 및 이것을 배합한 화장료를 얻는 것을 과제로 한다.이러한 과제를 해결하기 위해, 평균 입자경이 3∼20㎛, 평균 마찰 계수가 3 이하, 가시광 전(全)광선투과율이 85% 이상, 근적외선 반사율이 80% 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 산화아연 입자를 제공한다.
