The present disclosure relates to an assembly of a holder (1) for accommodating plant material (7), comprising: a substantially cup-shaped container (4) for accommodating at least a root system of the plant material and optionally also substrate, with an access in at least one orientation and a grip (6), such as a handle, extending from the access. The assembly further comprises a tray (2,3) with accommodations for receiving holders. The invention also relates per se to at least one such holder and/or a tray, wherein the tray comprises accommodations for receiving the at least one holder therein. The invention also relates to a tray configured for application in such an assembly.
