The invention relates to a portable medium dispenser (10) for discharging liquid, pasty, or powdery media, comprising a housing (12) having a discharge opening (14), a medium store (16) for accommodating the medium before discharge, and an operating handle (16a), by means of which a conveying process can be effected, during which medium is conveyed from the medium store (16) to the discharge opening (14). 2.2. According to the invention, the dispenser (10) has a detecting device (220) for detecting a shaking movement, which detecting device comprises an optical or acoustic output device (230a, 230b) and is designed in such a way that the detecting device transfers the output device from a first state to a second state in reaction to manual shaking of the dispenser (10). 2.3. The invention further relates to the use thereof for media having two components, such as suspensions and emulsions.
