The present invention provides a liquid composition comprising two water-soluble biodegradable natural polymers and having a particular viscosity that forms, upon cross- linking of said polymers, a highly biocompatible injectable hydrogel having particular physical properties, which can be used in various medical applications, e.g., for reducing lung volume in an individual suffering from emphysema.
