The method of implanting an intervertebral spacer can include positioning the intervertebral spacer within an intervertebral space defined by adjacent vertebral bodies. The intervertebral spacer can include a plurality of bores, each of the plurality of bores can be configured to receive either a linear fastening element or a curved fastening element. The method also includes selecting the first fastening element from a group that includes a linear fastening element and a curved fastening element and adjacent the first fastening element to secure the intervertebral spacer within the intervertebral space.
