A method for the individualization of levodopa / carbidopa therapy in a mammalian subject, comprising the steps of: i) measuring the isotope-labeled CO2 exhaled by the subject after having administered an isotope-labeled levodopa and a first dose of carbidopa , where metabolism of the isotope-labeled levodopathy produces isotope-labeled CO2, and determine the metabolic capacity of the levodopa from the measured isotope-labeled CO2； ii) repeat the previous steps with at least a second different dosage of carbidopa and iii) determine an effective dosage regimen of carbidopa for administration to the subject.Un método para la individualización de la terapia con levodopa/carbidopa en un sujeto mamífero, que comprendelas etapas de: i) medir el CO2 marcado con isótopo exhalado por el sujeto después de haber administrado al mismo unalevodopa marcada con isótopo y una primera dosificación de carbidopa, en donde metabolismo de la levodopamarcada con isótopo produce CO2 marcado con isótopo, y determinar la capacidad metabólica de la levodopa apartir del CO2 marcado con isótopo medido； ii) repetir las etapas anteriores con al menos una segunda dosificación diferente de carbidopa y iii) determinar un régimen de dosificación eficaz de carbidopa para administrarlo al sujeto.
