In particular, provided herein are compounds and methods for treating cancer by inhibiting HDAC8. Methods for treating cancer are also provided herein. In one aspect, a method of treating cancer in a subject in need of treatment for cancer, by administering to the subject an effective amount of an HDAC8 inhibitor. Further provided herein are methods for inhibiting HDAC8-mediated deacetylation.
