An inhaler is provided which comprises a housing to receive a strip comprising a plurality of blisters having pierceable lids and containing medicament for inhalation a mouthpiece mounted to the housing through which the medicament is inhaled by a user a piercing element an actuator for moving the blisters sequentially into alignment with the piercing element and for subsequently causing the piercing element to pierce the lid of the aligned blister so that when the user inhales through the mouthpiece, an airflow is generated through the blister to entrain the medicament and carry it, via the mouthpiece, into the users airway and a mechanism for applying a biasing force to the actuator wherein the mechanism is adapted to apply a biasing force to the actuator during a forward stroke which is independent of the biasing force that it applies to the actuator during a return stroke.
