PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for efficiently determining a type of sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) by using a suprasternal space pressure sensor.SOLUTION: Information related to respiration of a subject is acquired. In addition, information that is related to motions of a chest wall and is acquired by using a suprasternal space pressure sensor 20 attached to a suprasternal space part of the subject is acquired. Next, an apnea/hypopnea event indicating that the subject is in an apnea or hypopnea condition is detected based on the information related to the respiration.
