The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating viral or bacterial infections, a sanitary aid composition, a health aid food composition for preventing or improving viral or bacterial infections, or a feed or a feed additive, which comprises a zedoaria extract or a fraction thereof capable of increasing activity of TLR4 and TLR7/8 and inducing production of interferon &beta. The zedoaria extract or the fraction thereof according to the present invention activates TLR4 and TLR7/8 and induces production of interferon &beta to increase TLR-mediated immunoactivity, and thus shows an effect of preventing, treating or improving viral or bacterial infections.
