PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide quantified information on a vortex flow estimated from beam-direction velocity components of respective points on an observation plane of a subject.SOLUTION: A vortex flow computing section 416 calculates a flow function of vortex flow components, or flow components circulating an observation plane, based on the beam-direction velocity components of respective points on the observation plane found by a color Doppler computing section 412. The positions and values (flow rate values) of the respective peaks in the flow function are found and the found values are displayed on a screen as the maximum flow rates of the vortex flow corresponding to the respective peaks.
