Methods for detecting resistance to sedation caused by antipsychotic drugs including methods for detecting psychotic disorders such as but not limited to schizophrenia or bipolar I disorder featuring administering to a patient a dose of an antipsychotic medication and subjecting the patient to an evaluation at a time point following administration of the dose of the antipsychotic medication. The evaluation is adapted to determine a level of sedation resulting from the dose of the antipsychotic medication. A resulting level of sedation may be one of the following: completely sedated, significantly sedated, moderately sedated, not significantly sedated and completely alert. If the individual is not completely sedated or significantly sedated, or is completely alert, then the patient may have a likelihood of having a psychotic disorder such as schizophrenia.La présente invention concerne des procédés de détection de la résistance à la sédation provoquée par des médicaments antipsychotiques comprenant des procédés de détection de troubles psychotiques comprenant entre autres la schizophrénie ou un trouble bipolaire I consistant à administrer à un patient une dose dun médicament antipsychotique, et à soumettre le patient à une évaluation à un moment après ladministration de la dose du médicament antipsychotique. Lévaluation est conçue pour déterminer un niveau de sédation résultant de la dose du médicament antipsychotique. Un niveau de sédation obtenu peut être lun des éléments suivants : complètement endormi, sensiblement endormi, modérément endormi, pas sensiblement endormi et complètement alerte. Si la personne nest pas complètement endormie ou pas significativement endormie, ou est complètement alerte, le patient peut probablement souffrir dun trouble psychotique tel que la schizophrénie.
