PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve hemostasis performance and penetrating properties of a valve mechanism of a catheter assembly.SOLUTION: The catheter assembly 10 includes a tubular external needle 12, an external needle hub 14 having a flow channel 26 communicating with the inside of the external needle 12 in the inside, a hemostasis valve 46 having a blocking membrane 58 interrupting the circulation of a fluid and a slit 60 partially opening and closing the blocking membrane 58, and a plug 50 provided closer to a proximal end side than the blocking membrane 58 and inserted into the slit 60 by the movement toward the tip.
