The present invention relates to cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions comprising at least one active ingredient and comprising a carrier system for the at least one active ingredient, to the use of such compositions in cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical formulations, and to methods for producing the compositions. In order to provide means for an improved stabilization and the release of one or more active ingredients, wherein overall the bioavailability of the active ingredient or active ingredients should be increased, compositions of the type previously mentioned are proposed, wherein the carrier system comprises lipid vesicles having one or more lipid membranes, wherein the at least one active ingredient is contained in the lipid vesicles and the lipid vesicles have a positive surface charge, wherein the positive surface charge is a result of the lipid vesicles comprising positively charged alkyl trimonium salts as charge providers in the lipid membrane or lipid membranes in addition to the lipids.
