PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an artificial periosteum capable of being manufactured simply and inexpensively as compared with a conventional artificial periosteum.SOLUTION: The artificial periosteum comprises a sheetlike biodegradable high polymeric material containing BMP originating from a coli bacterium. In this case, the BMP originating from the coli bacterium is produced using the coli bacterium as a host cell and comprises one or more kinds of BMPs selected from the group consisting of BMP-2, BMP-4, BMP-5, BMP-6, BMP-7(OP-1), BMP-8(OP-2) and functionally equivalently changed substances (changed type BMPs) of them.
