Disclosed herein is a feed which has a relatively high total fat percentage and which contains inside and on the surface of feed raw material particles, higher than 10% by weight of a fatty acid mixture rich in saturated free fatty acids, such as palmitic acid. Also disclosed is a process for preparing said feed and methods for increasing concentrations of protein and fat in milk and for increasing the milk production of a lactating animal.
